(I've been a fan of Jet since hearing his mixtape with Nomadz back in the day. He's lyrics are extremely intelligent, his delivery INSANE, his flow unparalleled and his energy infectious. You don't know anything about SA hip-hop if you don't know Jet Wentworth. Download his profile here or join his Facebook group here)
The torch of Hip Hop has always burned brightest in the hands of diverse urban youth from around the world, bringing heat and light to the darkest ghetto lifestyles, nurturing the seeds that are sown in the toughest soil, forming a solid foundation to build a future on, from the street up.
From Treasure Beach, in the east coast city of Durban, South Africa, comes 27yr old Lee Christopher Wynne a.k.a. JET WENTWORTH.
With both the voice and the accent of a born and bred “gully lightie” he spits his rapid fire reality Raps, with a style and persona that pays tribute to his Bruinfunk origins, while displaying his polished new school prowess on the mic. His sound out the studio speaks of the influence of gangland mentality on the conscious mind of a ghetto youth, demonstrating the ability of Hip Hop to lift an individual out of their reality to find new footing on the promise of their future.

(This article was originally published on Marketingweb a few months back. It drives home some key points that we've been trying to emphasise here on Bruin-ou.com since the site was launched, that the Coloured community is unjustifiably neglected by corporate South Africa and in so doing, is incapable of properly advancing in South African society today. We'd love to hear your views on this article.)
Fragmented, stereotyped and misunderstood, South Africa’s 4.4 million strong Coloured market is as big as the white market in South Africa (9.1% of the population vs. 9%) and yet so many marketers have made the mistake of overlooking opportunities within this previously disadvantaged group.
This is a shortsighted, given that the Coloured market makes up 63% of the total population in the Western Cape (Stats SA 2009), and therefore it is no surprise that so many brands that are successful elsewhere fail to connect with consumers in this province.

AFTER suffering a stroke, and then contracting TB meningitis, a once perfectly healthy Durban two-year-old is now blind and faces the future as a quadriplegic.
To help the family raise funds for the medical expenses, an event has been planned in Durban for 27 August 2010. Please join the Baby Chloe Facebook Group for more info.
She has been in King Edward VIII Hospital since December and her parents are desperate to take her home but cannot because they cannot afford to pay for the care she needs. Doctors have been unable to explain to Newlands East parents Roland and Kara Stanley how their daughter, Chloe, with no history of medical problems, suddenly suffered a stroke in October last year.

Former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana midfielder Clinton Larsen has been appointed as head coach of Bloemfontein Celtic. Larsen replaces Owen da Gama who has joined Platinum Stars after 18 months in charge of Phunya Sele Sele.
He served as Da Gama's assistant last season and beat off other leading contenders, such as Neil Tovey and Gordon Igesund for the job.
The 39-year-old played twice for his country under Clive Barker when Bafana were still new to international soccer in the early 1990s. He was also assistant to Igesund at Pirates and Martizburg United and it will be Larsen's first time as head coach of a PSL club.

(Every year for the past 3 years, Eersterust has been hosting its very own version of the popular reality singing contest, Idols. Controversial, outspoken social commentator, Warren Sithole gives his summary of the event in his inimitable style)
Better as 2009 se idols, maar ek was mossie by 2009 sinne nie. Maar ek remember 2008 se Idols asof dit nog gister was. Billa wat hom Usher moves oppie dansvloer geslaat het en die dolle mal gemaak het, met hom remix van Eazy Like a sunday Morning. Onse eie Randal my genant Warren Petersen, die beste Judge eva ekt hom stukkent gelike. Ek kan net nie onthou wie die seremonie monster was nie. Die MC, die ou wat mos moet maak die crowd moet lag en luister en all that.
