Youd be forgiven for thinking that bruin-ous have completely stopped making hip-hop music. Heck, I cant even remember when the last time was that a bruin-ou artist was nominated for a SAMA award in the hip-hop category, or when a mainstream radio station actually played a few tracks from some up and coming bruin-ou hip-hop artists album (of which there are MANY!!!). Its like a jungle out there for hip-hop heads. |

For Generations, an exciting new theater production, written, produced and performed by veteran actor and media personality Kurt Egelhof. The play will run at The Grahamstown Festival between the 26th June and the 5 July. Tickets are available from Computicket.
Kurt Egelhof says, The play was written in response to a challenge facing modern fathers: raising their sons in a so-called free and fair South Africa, where role modeling has become a serious problem. If our youth do not have good private role models to look up to, what are their chances of becoming good human beings if they are to look to the public arena for their role models?

Bruin-ou.com chatted with M-Seeq of emerging Cape Town hip-hop crew, Suburban Menace...this is what he gotta say! (tracks from their demo album available via streaming audio in a short while)
All our members grew up in different environments of the Cape Flats, from Mitchells Plain, Grassy Park, Kuilsriver and Ravensmead. We all have different abilities when it comes to writing our material. Lil Homes is more hardcore and spits with a lot of zeal and energy, M.O.B thinks of himself as the wordsmith and writes verses with deep seated meanings that youll only get after listening to the tracks a coupla hundred times.
