A luxurious life by dudette.
i was having coffee at a cafe a few weeks ago with some friends,when an elderly couple pulled up a seat at our communal table.They ordered a coffee each and sat quietly,reflecting on the beautiful view and enjoying each other's company.
As they got up to leave ,they leant over and whispered,"isn't it such a luxury to be here enjoying a coffee at this beautiful cafe?'
It was such a lovely reflection-the kind often only bequeathed by those with a little life experience under their belt-and it got me thinking about what luxury means today.
When we hear the word 'luxury" we tend to think in terms of the cost of things ,but when most of us are time-poor and stress rich,the word luxury takes on a whole new meaning.
So what is luxury in 2008?Well here are a few ideas to get you thinking.
Lazy Sundays...take one day out of the week to do absolutely nothing .For those who attend church on a sunday it may be a good idea to do that first then then spend the rest of the day lolling about the house ,maybe reading a book or watching your favourite tv show.This is a great way to refuel your mind and spirit.
Take out that beautiful china tea set that you have been saving to use for when you receive special guests and use it now....this a special occasion for you.Tea tastes much better served in china than from a cardboard takeaway cup.
Familt dinners...Spending time together as a family is a treat in our busy lives.Take the time to get together and enjoy conversation around the dinner table .Lay out your beautiful dinnerware ,light thecandles and reconnect.
Crafting good things....Having a hobby or craft is a meditation of sorts ...a way to allow your mind and body a little rest and relaxation.
Working from bed....Those who are able to work from home...try this out .Why get out of bed to work when spending time between the sheets inspires creativity and offers a different perspective?This can be achieved with cosy bed linen :flannel or cotton sheets and a duck feather doona[duvet].You will find you are more productive in bed than you will ever be upright in an office.

Quite right, the bottom line is LEISURE. We seem to have too little of that in our stressful, make-ends-meet-at-all-costs or our chase-the-almighty-dollar mode of operation, which diminishes us. When people ask me, quite innocently, what do I do? I answer: As little as possible!
