Andre at the Eiffel Tower

The lady and I have been here in London for about a year and three months and it’s amazing to think of all that we have done in our time thus far. I can't actually believe that we only have about nine months left, and then we’ll be making our way back home at the end of April. At least that’s the plan for now. But let me get stuck into letting you all know what we have been getting up to.

July was a busy month for us. First off, we went to the Live 8 concert (2 July 2005), which had a line-up of performers that would have anybody saying “Yusssusss!” We had to send in an SMS answering a question as to where the G8 summit was being held, which cost £1.50. This gave you the opportunity of winning 1 of 75000 pairs of tickets to what would go down as the biggest concert in History. And guess what? I won tickets out of 2 million people who entered! The impressive line-up included U2, Sting, Keane, The Scissor Sisters, Stereophonics, REM, Pink Floyd, Snow Patrol, Snoop Dogg, UB40, Mariah Carey, Cold Play, Dido, Elton John, Joss Stone and many more guest speakers, such as the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. This will probably interest the ladies: MY lady was fortunate enough to see Brad Pitt in the flesh (unfortunately his darling Angelina was not at his side; now that would have been worth standing up for). The ladies went mad though, and I'm like... what's the BIG deal? As memorable a day as it was, standing for more than 10 hours started to take its toll. But no matter what, it was all worth it.

The following week we went to Paris (6 July), and my family joined us on the trip as they had come to London to visit for two weeks. It was great seeing them and getting to eat some of momma's much loved wholesome meals (no disrespect to my lady of course!) This was at the time of the London bombings, so thankfully we were not there. Even so, it was a sad and scary time for everyone.

I am not even sure where to begin regarding Paris. I'll start off saying that it is an incredibly beautiful and romantic place. (I still can't believe that they lost the 2012 Olympic bid to London, because London doesn't have anything on this city!) We took the Eurostar train to Paris which crosses the English Channel, which means you actually go under the sea and travel at an average speed of 300km/h – yes, you read correctly. The sweetest thing is you don't feel a thing, but when you look outside you know you ain't driving Miss Daisy!
