One of our Bruin-ou.com members, Keenan Gordon, was instrumental in getting chess sets donated to “our chess school – Uitkyk Primer” out in the Western Cape. The above pic shows how grateful the students were after receiving their sets. You will also note at the back their thanks to Bruin-ou.com.

He managed to get the company that he is an employee of, Altech AutoPage Cellular, to donate these lovely chess sets to the school. Keenan, we would like to thank you for the great effort on your side and encourage others to take the great initiative that Keenan has. We would also like to extend a massive thank you to Altech Autopage Cellular for opening up their hearts to these under-privileged kids. We hope that this will set the standard for other corporates to follow suite.

With Roslyn Barth-Abrahams now responsible for driving this project to completion, we are hoping to make one last push and raise as much money for the school as we can. Roslyn had battled to get hold of the school for a long time but after much persistence, has eventually managed to do so. During the course of next week, the school will send us a detailed account of their fund-raising efforts to date, with numbers on what is still required and hopefully, together, we can close the gap.

Rest assured we will keep you all updated and thank you tremendously for all of your contributions to date.

In the words of one of the members who donated a whopping R6 000…”Let’s send these laities overseas”
